This morning we visited one of the Brancott Estate vineyards where they grow grapes to produce Savignon Blanc. It's winter here in New Zealand so all the vines are bare and in need of pruning. They are all this golden, orange color which made still made it very beautiful to look out over all the rolling hills covered in vines.
The basics of pruning were taught to us, though I wish we could have seen the actual workers in action. I heard they were very quick and efficient. We also spent some time talking about disease control and pest prevention here in New Zealand, along with some other business details.
We spent the night at a strange little hostel/car park motel thing in Blenheim. Honestly, it wasn't a particularly exciting town and most of us didn't do anything except relax and sleep. Tomorrow we are going on a fun day trip to Kaikoura!
