Today was quite a day!
It started out with bungy jumping at Taupo Bungy. Seven of us jumped and it was amazing. The jump is 47 meters high over the Waikato River; it's the highest water touch jump in New Zealand. It was cold and rainy outside but I wanted to touch the water. After waiting in line you get sat down in your harness and they put on the ankle shackles. Once it was my turn I shuffled to the edge of the platform and was ready to jump before the guy even finished counting down to 1! You just lean forward off the edge and free fall. I wish I could have been able to wear my glasses so that I could see more, but really it's so fast that you don't notice anything anyway. I got dunked in the river up to my belly button! I'm definitely an adrenaline junkie and plan on using the coupon they gave me for another place called Gravity Canyon.

After returning to Taupo I walked around town for a bit before all of us left for Hawke's Bay. We arrived at our new home for the month, Stables Lodge Backpackers, in Napier. I got a great room with Erin, Marissa, and Alyse. We've each got a cupboard and a bed (I'm on a top bunk). It will be quite an adjustment to live here for a month but it feel so homey here so it will be great!
We all went with a group and our leader, Christina, to a restaurant called Mister D where you buy a doughnut and syringes of filling (chocolate, custard, or jam). You get to inject your own doughnut and we each got two syringes! My doughnut was too dense for the fillings to actually spread out but it was still amazing. Definitely will be taking another trip there before the month is up.

Later that evening Alyse, Erin, and I went to Thai Hut for dinner (which was my first time having thai food I might add). We split two dishes and rice, which was perfect and absolutely delicious. We went out with a big group of others to a bar called the Thirsty Whale that night. We all got there way too early though and it was dead for awhile so we walked around to some other bars in the area. Eventually we went back to the Thirsty Whale and it had turned into a giant dance club. We all had a ton of fun dancing before returning to the hostel for the night.
